An out of trade apprentice is an apprentice who has had their training contract cancelled by themselves or their employer through lodging the required cancellation paperwork with an Australian Apprentice Support Network provider (AASN) or with the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).  Apprentices who have a pending cancellation are also able to register to get a head start on finding a new recommencement opportunity.

An apprentice can register for assistance immediately once they have a cancelled training contract.

The Queensland out of trade register is currently only available to Queensland apprentices with a cancelled training contract.

The type of assistance available to Queensland apprentices with a cancelled training contract is based on individual circumstances and need.  This may include:

  • Job search assistance
  • Career counselling and guidance
  • Interview skills development
  • Resume assistance
  • Links to employers
  • Links to Industry

Yes, once registered an apprentice or employer will receive log in details so they can update their details through the portal by logging in at any time.

No.  The Queensland out of trade register is a totally free service funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) and administered by the Apprentice Employment Network (AEN) for Queensland out of trade apprentices to register their details to gain assistance to recommence their trade and for employers to register their details to express interest in recommencing a Queensland out of trade apprentice with their business.
